Restoring Willowmore’s Green Spaces Together
As part of our Town Upliftment initiative, Revive Willowmore is focusing on the clean-up and restoration of public green spaces and township areas that have been neglected for far too long. Over the years, some of these spaces have become dumping grounds, while others have simply fallen into disrepair. We believe it’s time to change that—but not alone.
Our vision is to work with the community to find practical, lasting solutions. This includes helping to establish designated rubbish dumping points, promoting responsible waste habits, and breathing life back into forgotten green spaces. But to make a real impact, we need more than just good intentions—we need strong partnerships.
That’s why we’re looking to join hands with companies and organisations involved in recycling and upcycling. By managing waste more sustainably, we can transform it into something useful—reducing landfill and even creating opportunities for local projects.
We’re also reaching out to organisations that place volunteers, especially those passionate about community upliftment and environmental care. These partnerships can bring much-needed hands, skills, and energy into our town, working alongside residents who want to see change.
This is about more than just cleaning up—it’s about restoring dignity, pride, and a sense of ownership. With the right support, neglected spaces can once again become places for children to play, families to gather, and communities to thrive.
Together, we can build a cleaner, greener, more hopeful Willowmore.
Karoo Food Garden Initiative (start goal 2026)
Looking ahead, we’re excited about something close to home—literally. One of our biggest hopes for the year is to help more households in Willowmore start growing their own food. Picture veggie gardens taking shape in backyards, feeding families and creating a little more security where it’s needed most.
Food insecurity is a real issue in many small towns, including ours. But the Karoo has its own kind of richness. With some shared knowledge, a bit of compost, and a community willing to get stuck in, we believe we can turn dry patches of soil into gardens that put food on the table and bring people together.
The goal is simple: home food gardens in as many households as possible, with support in the form of tools, training, and guidance to help people get started and keep going.
It’s not just about growing food. It’s about growing confidence, skills, and pride in doing something meaningful with your own hands.
We’re reaching out to other groups who’ve done this successfully elsewhere, learning from their journeys, and hoping to build partnerships along the way. We’re also on the lookout for funding, sponsorships, and donations—anything that can help us provide seeds, materials, and basic resources to the families who want to be part of this.
If you’re someone who loves gardening, has some space you’d like to use, or wants to be part of something hopeful and hands-on, we’d love to connect.
Let’s get Willowmore growing—one garden at a time.
Empowering Our Community Through Skills Development
Revive Willowmore is planning a new project aimed at upskilling and empowering individuals in our town to improve their employability. In collaboration with the local municipality, this initiative will provide essential training to equip residents with the skills needed to access better job opportunities and improve their economic stability.
The project will be managed by Revive Willowmore, working closely with the Municipality's Training Officer to ensure the courses meet the local workforce's needs. We will secure the necessary buy-in from the municipality to ensure the project’s long-term success.
This initiative will be based at the newly upgraded Training Centre, renovated by Revive Willowmore for the municipality last year. The Centre will serve as a hub for various training programs that cover both technical and soft skills, helping residents build the competencies needed to thrive in today’s job market.
By upskilling the local community, we aim to address the high unemployment and poverty rates in Willowmore. This project will provide residents with opportunities to improve their qualifications and secure stable employment, creating a positive ripple effect in the town’s economy.
We look forward to working with the municipality and local residents to make this vision a reality.

Town Upliftment Project: Revitalizing Willowmore
The Town Upliftment Project is an initiative aimed at addressing and repairing areas of Willowmore that have deteriorated over the past few years due to poor management and limited municipal funding. This project will focus on working closely with the local municipality to offer our assistance with tasks such as fixing potholes, repainting street lines and curbs, and helping to restore neglected buildings, where possible.
A dedicated team of volunteers, passionate about creating positive change, will collaborate to breathe new life into the town. When it comes to painting and the upliftment of buildings, we will offer employment opportunities to local residents, ensuring the project directly benefits the community.
We will begin the project in the main CBD and gradually expand to other areas that need attention. The overall goal is to make Willowmore more attractive, which we believe will help draw more visitors to the town. This influx of visitors will create more job opportunities and potentially attract future investment.
The Town Upliftment Project is an ongoing effort to improve the town’s appearance, create a more vibrant environment, and foster long-term growth and prosperity for Willowmore and its residents. Stay tuned for updates as we work toward a brighter future for our town.

Preserving our History: A Journey Through Time
This project is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich history of Willowmore, raising awareness and making historical information easily accessible. Our website will feature detailed historical content, complemented by QR codes, maps, and other resources to guide tourists as they explore our town’s heritage.
A committee of passionate historians will be formed to assist with gathering and compiling historical data about key properties, which will be featured on the website. This collaborative effort will cover the entire town, ensuring that the history of Willowmore is thoroughly represented.
The project will benefit the entire community by attracting more tourists and creating job opportunities for local residents. Locals will be employed to assist with the cleaning, maintenance, and repairs of historical properties, which will help maintain the town's charm and appeal.
By raising awareness of Willowmore’s unique history, we aim to encourage visitors to stay longer, rather than just passing through. This extended stay will support local businesses, creating employment in guest houses, restaurants, coffee shops, and more.
The project is ongoing, and we look forward to seeing it grow, drawing visitors, preserving our heritage, and contributing to the economic vitality of Willowmore.
